Homestay Information System in the Colorful Village of Tigarihit Parapat

Abstract

Kampung Warna Warni Tigarihit Parapat is one of the tourist destinations in the Lake Toba area that offers a community-based homestay concept. Homestays in Tigarihit provide a unique experience for tourists by staying with local residents. However, homestay management in this area faces several challenges, such as a lack of a structured management system, conventional promotion, and difficulties in monitoring room availability and reservations. This study aims to design and develop an information system that can help overcome these problems by improving the efficiency of homestay management in Kampung Warna Warni Tigarihit. This system is designed using the Rapid Application Development (RAD) method, which enables rapid and interactive application development. The results of this study show that the designed information system is capable of improving the operational efficiency of homestays, simplifying the booking process for tourists, and providing broader promotional opportunities through integration with online media. It is hoped that the implementation of this system can strengthen the competitiveness of homestays in Kampung Warna Warni Tigarihit, increase the number of tourists, and have a positive impact on the economic welfare of the local community.
